About The Farm

Lady Moon Farms began in 1987 on a 22 acre farmette in Selinsgrove, PA. We added land as demand for organic vegetables grew, and moved to our current location in Chambersburg in 1996. Demand continued to grow and we tried a venture in Florida in 1999, which is now in full production in Punta Gorda outside of Fort Meyers. This gave us year-round availability to our customers and a year-round income! With the addition of another farm in the Chambersburg area this year, our total acreage is now close to 900. That's a lot of vegetables!!!

About the Beddard's

We are still a family farm and Chris and Tom run the show. Our children grew up making hundreds of boxes, working on the packing lines and moving flat of plants. Ellis is in the army after running the loading dock for us and Carla is in college, but summertime still sees daughters Anais and Carla working for Mom and Dad.

While we have upwards of 60 employees at times, we still remember that one tomato line in an oak grove without even a roof. Dad driving a pickup and a 12' trailer to the health food stores in Jersey, Philly, and DC. Mom was a tarping wizard.

About the Lady

When our daughter Carla was three she used to always spot the moon in the daytime, saying "There's the lady moon." Tom was looking for a name for the farm and thought what a great name it would be. We tried to incorporate the three sisters of corn/beans/squash from the Native Americans, but with Chris kneeling as the model with her hand in the air, and a friend taking pictures, we just settled for the lady and the moon.
